Be Careful With The Plants, They Can Hear You!
Health & Beauty / /
Plants are establishing their own natural "networks” of communication with the surrounding. It is estimated that they don’t have five senses as humans ... but maybe even more! Plants are not as insensitive as we usually think, but the contrary!
Botanists have discovered that the features and capabilities of plants can be compared with the world of animals. It was discovered that the trees in the forest, like basil and peppers in pots on the terrace, often "talk" with each other and maintain very close neighborly relations. But do not bother listening to the speech of plants, they do not use the word, but the vibrations.
In truth, the herbs use their "senses" differently than animals. However, the results are almost the same, even though the whole process is not that complex. Everything happens very easily, though startling. Floral environment is profoundly different from our own, the human environment. Starting with the rhythm of life, plants live more slowly than animals and humans. As for the senses, they are considerably more sensitive!
They are able to "smell" different molecules, because their cells are rich in smell receptors. They use the "sense of smell" in order to collect news from the environment. Similarly with the sense of taste. Due to the presence of numerous receptors they "feel" the presence of chemical substances: if roots are "feeling" the nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphorus, the growth of the roots will be directed towards them. Despite that, plants are able to feel the vibrations, and thus distinct if someone had touched them.
We've all noticed that when in the shade, the plants extend towards the sun. They manage to feel the light molecules present on the leaves. These molecules play a role of receptors. However, it does not ends here. Some plants are capable of using their "special senses" to measure moisture, toxins, the amount of carbon dioxide and many other chemical substances. The fact that they cannot move, from the chemical point of view, compared with animals - plants are superior. They use a kind of passive resistance. Many are poisonous and bitter. Other molecules of plants are so easy that the wind is transmitting them very far away, which is connected with the most unusual ability of plants - communication. That the ability was investigated by the scientists from the University of California. They put next to one tobacco plant a plant of the genus Artemisia. Then they deliberately "attacked" the second plant with parasites. They noticed that the attacked plant seemed to manage to inform the neighboring (tobacco) plant that there is a threat in the surrounding. The plant that "listened" to what happened in the neighborhood, released mixtures of toxic molecules in its own defense.
It turned out that some species come into contact with animals. Tobacco, cotton and Peruvian beans, at a time when they are attacked by smaller insects, emit molecules that attract other, larger insects. They come and eat the attackers, while the plants stay safe.
