Health & Beauty / /
If you don’t want to be among those that are concealing their teeth when taking a photo and are embarrassed due to teeth discoloration, you may want to try some of these ingredients which can help you make the brightest first impression.
Brush After Drinking or Eating
The best way to whiten your teeth is to brush them with an appropriate toothbrush and toothpaste after eating or drinking. This can even be kind of difficult especially depending on where you are at the time you are having your meal. In order to prevent discolored teeth it is highly recommended to avoid smoking cigarettes, drinking too much coffee and soda, and on the other side to eat healthy food, drink water and drink staining beverages through a straw.
Most food does not stain teeth, but if you are a coffee drinker or if you smoke, you can pretty much count on having discolored teeth over time due to thinning enamel and/or staining. To avoid this you can have your teeth cleaned every three months, or try some of the following natural remedies.
Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda
Hydrogen peroxide is an antibacterial agent that is used in mouth and gum cleaning, keeping them free of germs. By mixing half hydrogen peroxide and half water you can make an oral mouth rinse that will keep your breath fresh by eliminating bad bacteria. Except for whitening the teeth it also has other uses in dentistry. It’s proven effective in providing natural protection against gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis.
Another way of using this product is to mix it with a small amount of baking soda and make a paste that can remove more plaque from teeth. A study found that in five controlled clinical studies on over 270 subjects those brushing with a baking soda dentifrice showed greater enhanced plaque removal effectiveness than those who used the non-baking soda tooth cleaning products.
It may sound weird but it seems like this products whit its antimicrobial properties can serve as a natural teeth whitener. People have reported their teeth became whiter and healthier after applying coconut oil to their teeth.
To test this product simply put a spoonful of coconut oil in your mouth and swish it between your teeth for five minutes.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar as a natural antibiotic and teeth cleanser is especially helpful in removing stains caused by common culprits like nicotine and coffee.
The secret behind this acid is that it contains compounds, including acetic acid, potassium, magnesium, probiotics and enzymes, which kill the bad bacteria and at the same time encourage the growth of beneficial probiotic bacteria. Its natural acidity breaks down plaque and other substances stuck to the teeth.
The key to using ACV for teeth, if you want to see the results, is to be consistent and to use it for at least a month. Simply rub apple cider vinegar on your teeth with a finger for about a minute, after that rinse your mouth with water. Some also claim that rubbing the teeth with lemon or orange peel also helps in whitening the teeth due to their beneficial acids.
