Balenciaga Fall/Winter 2016/17

When it was announced that Balenciaga's new head designer will be Demna Gvasalia, everyone was a bit shocked. But after seeing the new collection, we can see why that decision was made.
Demna Gvasalia is one of the seven "anonymous" designers of Paris upcoming brand Vetements. As of this season he is the head designer for Balenciaga.
The collection presented yesterday during Paris Fashion Week surprised almost everyone. The clothes were modern and refreshing, some of them obviously oversized, layered, but most of all wearable. There was variety of shapes, square forms and volume manipulation and high platform, above the knee boots.
The collection was opened with conservative gray outfit, jacket paired with an A form skirt. As the runway show went on it was more vibrant and colorful. There was Gvasalia's signature, oversized unbuttoned outerwear over more tamed skirts and shirts.
We saw overall brocaded outfits, patchwork-look-a-like sheer dresses, graphic v knitwear, plaid and leather trench coats and so on.
The models were plain, almost without make up, unimaginative hair styles, just the opposite of the collection itself.
My first priority was to understand the methodology of Cristóbal, his work around the body, and how to do it today, in 2016.” - said Gvasalia.
And the result was interesting collection, mash up street style and couture with nice chosen cuts and curves.
