7 Popular Healthy Diet Rules that are Complete Nonsense
Health & Beauty / /
Healthy food is more and more popular, which is completely fine and we all support it. Our health comes from the inside, so that is why we should really take care of what we consume.
The Internet and the social media help us improve our weekly menu by giving us ideas on what to eat, then to eat it and it is also the best place for great healthy food recipes.
However, some things are exaggerated and we are here to point on them, those 7 popular healthy diet rules are actually nonsense.
Healthy food can be consumed in unlimited amounts
There should always be a balance in life in anything we do and that also goes for your foods that we know are healthy to eat. We feel better when trying dark chocolate with a lot of cocoa than eating milk chocolate, but far from it is if we have to consume it whole.
Also, avocado is very healthy, but it contains a lot of calories if you eat it constantly you will get more pounds if consumed often, for sure.
Vegetarian and vegan food is healthy
This doesn’t mean that vegetarian and vegans are not eating healthy food. Even if you give up eating meat, you may find great and delicious recipes in the vegetarian kitchen.
But the fact that you love to eat meat is not a bad thing at all. The meat itself contains vitamin B has vital role in regenerating body tissues, generating new blood cells and helping maintain a healthy nerve system. Also, meat contains iron that is needed for hemoglobin, which is the protein in the red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to the body's tissues and returns carbon dioxide from the tissues back to the lungs, for enegry and proper muscle and organ function.
In addition, proteins from the meat are good for your skin, blood, hormones, bone and cartilage.
When buying meet, try to get it from the best seller. It is very important if you trust in what you eat.
Gluten is harmful
If you are not intolerant to gluten, and if you are you'd know, there is no need to exclude gluten from your diet all together. Gluten-free diet is very popular today, but not cheap. For example, gluten-free flour is almost twenty times more expensive than wheat. However, if we ignore the high cost of it which is hard to do that nowadays, it is important to note that gluten has mixture of different proteins that the body needs, however it can be bad for some people under special circumstances.
The best food is raw food
It’s true that many foods, especially when it comes to vegetables being cooked or baked lose their nutritional value. However, did you know that some antioxidants, such as beta-carotene from carrots, lycopene from tomatoes and lutein from spinach become more useful when cooked?
Carrots in their raw state will provide us with an important antioxidant polyphenol, but not nearly as much of an important antioxidant carotene, as you would get in a cooked state.
Fruits and vegetables must be fresh
It is certainly more delicious to eat fresh fruit rather than dried or canned. Also, we all prefer to buy fresh vegetables at the market than frozen at the store. You should know that dry or canned fruits and vegetables have the same amount of vitamins, unless they are canned under high temperate, which can lead to vitamin C being destroyed, but otherwise if no extra additives, they are exactly the same.
Frozen fruits and vegetables in certain cases have even more vitamins than fresh ones, provided that they are frozen immediately after harvesting, while transporting the fresh ones can take several days.
Small sinful pleasures automatically means new pound
Those who follow a diet think that the fat will immediately stick to their belly if they eat only one candy or sweet.
This of course is not true. In fact, to get just one pound you need to eat at least 3500 calories. Keep In mind that when you eat cake or some chocolate snack, freely enjoy it.
Foods labeled “light” are a better choice
Certainly, in the stores we often come across fruit yogurts, margarines and mayonnaise that are labeled as light. These versions promise you that you will not gain weight if you consume them. It is true that they have less fat and are suitable for individuals with elevated cholesterol, but do you know that they have more artificial sweeteners and additives than the regular food?
For example if we know that milk fats are the most important nutrients in the milk, why would we drink the one with fewer nutrients?
Be careful of what you eat and eat healthier, but do not let myths to overcome you.
