Why Should Women Drink Beer?
Health & Beauty / /
There is no need of calcium chews anymore - a pint of beer is the solution. If you’re a woman, beer has much more beneficial effects on your health than you’ve ever thought.
Brews are believed to have plenty of health benefits, included aiding recovery after a workout, instead of drinking protein shakes. But it seems that beer is particularly good for the ladies. As the years pass, women have to put much more effort in preserving their bone density. However, a glass of beer might help you as much as calcium supplement can, or even more.
According to a study by the National Osteoporosis Risk Assessment, which followed over 200,000 females, found that drinking alcohol decreased the incidence of osteoporosis. That means that if you’re a woman and you regularly consume moderate amount of beer, you’re less likely to have your hip fractured, which is associated with shorter life spans after the age of 65.
Additionally, due to its hops, beer is flavonoid-rich beverage. These act as a natural hormone replacement, which could reduce hot flashes in menopause.
Beer is also doing womankind a service when it comes to intellectual benefits. According to a study in the New England Journal of Medicine examining over 12,000 elderly women, concluded that “women who consistently were drinking about one-half to one drink per day had both less cognitive impairment as well as less decline in their cognitive function compared to women who didn’t drink at all.”
Of course, don’t exaggerate: one beer a day should keep the doctor away. So, the next time you reach for a beer, know that you’re not just having a good time; you’re drinking to your health.
Health benefits of drinking beer are based on moderate consumption, which means one beer a day for average size women. Many of the above described benefits are lost when alcohol is consumed excessively, and in such cases can have a serious negative effect on your health.
