Throw back Sunday - Hits from 2006
Music Reviews / /
A decade has passed since 2006 but some hits remained as our favorite tracks we enjoy hearing on the radio. Check out the hits that marked 2006.
We will start with the girl that was and still rules the charts and has successfully established as a fashion icon - Rihanna. Back in 2006, Rihanna got her big momentum with the emotional ballad 'Unfaithful'. All of us listened to it, sang it along and probably we still know all the lyrics by heart.
The Pussycat Dolls have remained as one of the most successful girl groups ever, even though they had released only 2 albums. Their debut 'PCS' spawned the mega popular, sultry hit 'Buttons' ft. Snoop Dogg and no doubt was one of the sexiest songs back then.
Christina Aguilera's 'Ain't no other man' was the it-go-out song. With the significant influence from the 30s and 40s, the song had that uplifting vibe that made you want to show off your skills on the dance floor on in front of your bedroom mirror.
'Hips don't lie' still remains to be one of Shakira's signature songs to date. It became the best-selling single of the past decade worldwide.
Back in 2006 we all went a bit 'Crazy' for Gnarls Barkley. The Grammy winning single was definitely the best urban/alternative song of the year. The catchy song came with a stunning visual that we loved seeing on MTV and VH1.
Cassie, unfortunately might be classified under one hit wonder artists and that is a real pity. Her 2006 R&B hit 'Me & U' was undeniably one of the best, unfortunately none of her successive singles succeeded to repeat the chart success.
'The Dutchess', Fergie made her big comeback this year with 'M.I.L.F.$.' but back it 2006 she won our hearts with her debut solo single 'London Bridge'.
The pop prince - Justin Timberlake, ruled the charts in 2006 with his 'Sexy back'.
P!nk's parody of the socialite's life in 2006 with 'Stupid girls' remains as one of the most sarcastic songs ever. The music video on the other hand was so hilarious it made the song even more popular.
The last one if one of my favorite songs ever. 'Promiscuous' by Nelly Furtado ft. Timbaland was the song that had to be played to every party due to its seductive beat, sarcastic in-your-face lyrics and flawless production. This single was part of the multi-platinum album 'Loose', along with 'Maneater', 'Say it right' and 'All good things (Come to an end)'.
