Tinashe's late summer jam
Music Reviews / /
Tinashe has a new song and a new music video. Check out our review of her summer song 'Superlove'.
Tinashe has been slowly but surely climbing on the charts since her debut single '2 ON' and was heavily praised as 'fresh and solid debut' by the music critics. Since then she opened up for Justin Bieber during his 'My world tour', made an acting debut, and released a debut album (which debuted at #17).
Now Tinashe is back with the official lead single for her sophomore album 'Joyride'. 'Superlove' is the track that announces the album and its audio premiered a month ago. The song combines pop and R&B elements (which should be clear since her idols are Britney, Xtina and Janet Jackson) with an interesting bassline. The song was produced by Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, and it actually is 80s vs. 90s pop with some modern production. It sounds infectious (which is once again expected since it gets a summer release) and it has that breezy, bubbly vibe. Overall it is a cool song to listen during the hot summer days.
The single release comes along with a music video directed by Hannah Lux Davis. It was shot in Malibu, California and it features Tinashe and a bunch of girls dancing on the beach and playing some kind of 'BAEwatch' game. It is fun to watch, but honestly we would like to skip this era and go to the third album, which seems to be career defining in the artists these days. Usually the third album brings more mature sound and image, and while 'Superlove' suits Tinashe's age just well, we are eager to see her reaching her full potential.
Anyway check out the video and let us know if the song will make it to your summer hits playlist.
